Standardizing Production Reduces Publishing Costs

The chair of the publications committee for an international society was challenged to standardize the production of their peer-reviewed, medical journal.

The journal had experienced positive and unplanned growth over the years. This created unpredictable page counts, non-standard policies for advertising sales, and an ever-evolving layout and design.

Realizing that the current production procedures were obsolete and wanting to help the journal continue its growth, the chair explained that the society needed to stabilize the flow of content; systematize and generate advertising sales; and standardize the journal's look and feel.

NICHEPUBS provided this.

Today, journal production is regular and predictable, facilitating timely drop dates for each issue. Advertising collateral and policies are current, allowing for a more standardized approach to soliciting, coordinating, and placing of paid ads.

Additionally, the style guide co-developed by NICHEPUBS has created a consistent look and feel from cover-to-cover and issue-to-issue.
